You are the salt of the earth

You Are The Salt of the Earth

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.(Matthew 5:1-2)

Jesus teaches at Matthew 5:13, “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

In a world so full of war, strife, religion, diverse political, and national entities – back then and now – the world is like a table of diverse foods that have no taste. Anyone eating from that table cannot taste anything. Grandiose speeches with grandiose words are spoken. They have no taste. Worthless. Dead. No real value. Empty promises. Broken promises. Lies.

Followers of Christ possess teaching that is salty. It has substance. Like salt that preserves, that teaching leads to everlasting life.

Thus, Christ teaches that his disciples/followers are the salt of the earth. Good for something.

Notice Jesus did not say that they are salt of the world. The world belongs to Satan the Devil. Rather, Jesus’ disciples would be salt and dispensers of his truth in the earth. Our mission is to assist others out of the world into a spiritual place, a wilderness if you will, where all can be taught further by the Master.

Jesus suffered outside of the city that was supposed to be the holy city, Jerusalem. That holy city rejected him and spewed him out. Like our Master, we too will be rejected by this world for the teaching that we carry. If one fined that the world accepts them, then they are a part of the world. They make up a part of the very thing that is an enemy to God and Christ. Christ’s disciples have no place in this world to go into. No, not into any religious system or organization. We seek that place to yet come down – God’s Kingdom – that we may enter into. (John 15:19 and Hebrews 13:12-14)

No one of importance. A disciple (student) of Christ apart from the established religious systems who reasons, thinks and concludes matters for myself. Something is not right with the state of religion in the world. The real dichotomy is that we live in a world so full of religion, yet is an evil, immoral, and dangerous place to live. A mental and spiritual separation from this world that Jesus said his kingdom is no part of is the first step to a "break-through" to freedom and entry into a much larger spiritual world where God and Christ resides and the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God can be accessed.
