No! It means you know the Bible and perhaps the interpretation of it according to one of the many contending so-called “Christian” organizations in the world.
For example, Christian organization “A” believes in The Rapture and that Jesus is God. Christian organization “B” does not. So which one is right? They both claim that it is what the Bible teaches!
I know people who can quote Bible verses verbatim and have them committed to memory. But they have very little application of them and they “appear” to be intelligent because they can memorize Bible verses.
It all simply means that they know the Bible, not God and Christ.
How Does One Come To Know God?
Not through a book! One can only come to have a knowledge of God through the only authorized channel, The Son of God. The one the world knows today as Jesus [the] Christ (Messiah). Of himself, Jesus says (not the Bible saying it) at John 14:6 …
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Of Jesus, The Most High God says (not the Bible saying it) at Luke 9:35 …
A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.
No book is mentioned. And, those who argue, “Well, how else can we learn about God and Christ without the Bible?”
My response to them is, “Where is your faith in the invisible God and His invisible Son? Do you need a visible book to know them?”
Additionally, I would say to them, “How did men and women come to know about God and Christ when there was no such thing as a Bible?” For more than 1500 years there was no such book. The first “Bible” (one copy) emerged out of the Dark Ages some 1500 years after Christ ascended!
Jesus tells us how God is to be viewed, approached and worshiped. At John 4:23-24 Jesus says (the Bible does not say it) …
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
God is a spirit. A spirit cannot be seen. (Col 1:15)
Jesus says that he is the “the truth.” (John 14:6)
The only way God can be accessed and learned about is through Jesus [the] Christ (Messiah} who is now invisible himself and who resides in heaven alongside his Father. No book by any name is that way or channel.
How Does One Come To Know Christ?
The Most High God answers this question for us at Luke 9:35. He says (do not credit the Bible with saying it, God says it) …
A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.
We listen to Christ. We listen to what he teaches and tells us. Because he is no longer with us in the flesh is no excuse to assume that he is unable to teach us. Did he not send his disciples Holy Spirit (as he promised he would) on the Day of Pentecost in Acts Chapter 2? He did not send them a book!
The world has deviated from the path and follows a book. It does not see Christ in a spiritual way so as to follow him spiritually. They place a book in from of them and think because it mentions Christ it is the light to their pathway to God. Though many will not admit that this is what is happening, in practice, it is.
We come to know Christ by obeying God’s command to “listen” to him.
