Life is a precious gift from God, and to make the most of it, we need to set priorities and adopt habits that promote happiness and well-being.
In this article, I will explore the twelve non-negotiables I employ in my life for a long and happy life. These practices encompass a wide range of activities, from physical health to mental and emotional well-being. By incorporating these into your daily routine, you can achieve a more fulfilling and contented life.
Getting Outdoors: Hiking, Walking, Biking, and Earthing
I love the outdoors. We were not created to be hemmed up inside concrete, wood, and mortar structures that insulate us from the great outdoors where there is fresh air, greenery, sounds of nature, and the earth itself – our mother.
When we connect with nature, we connect with ourselves. Hiking, walking, biking, and even “earthing” (walking barefoot on natural surfaces) provide a deep sense of tranquility and rejuvenation. Nature is a source of inspiration and healing that can’t be replaced by anything else. I really believe this.
One of the best books on Earthing is “Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever!” by Clinton Ober.
I highly recommend it.

Thirty-Minute Strength Training and Stretching
Physical health is the cornerstone of a happy life. Thirty minutes of strength training and stretching daily does wonders for my body. It enhances your energy levels, boosts your mood, and keeps your muscles and joints in top condition.
This is non-negotiable.
Reading Two Books Per Month
Mental exercise is important to me. Watching lots of TV does not do it for me. (I love sports, though)
Books are windows to the world. Reading expands our horizons, increases knowledge, and stimulates the imagination.
I make it a habit to read at least two books a month, and you’ll find yourself growing intellectually and emotionally.

Writing in My Blog
Blogging – as I do on this website – is a creative outlet for me that allows me to express myself, share my experiences, and connect with others who share my interests. It’s a powerful tool for personal growth and building an online community.
This is non-negotiable.
Posting and Maintaining My Two YouTube Channels
I am a “Tech Guy.” Most of my life has been working in and teaching technology. This includes creating video content.
It is a great way to communicate and engage with an audience. By maintaining two YouTube channels, I keep a finger on the pulse of emerging video creation technologies (as of late Video AI Technologies) I can share my passions, knowledge, and experiences with a global community.

Getting Plenty of Sleep
Quality sleep is essential for overall well-being. It rejuvenates the body and mind, improves concentration, and supports emotional stability. Ensure you get enough restful sleep each night.
I make sure I get 6-8 hours of sleep each night (along with short naps throughout the day when my body calls for it)
I sleep “grounded.” That is, on a grounded sleeping mat on my bed. (OMG)

Flying My Drone as Often as I Can
Flying my drone is not just a hobby; it’s a unique way to explore the world from a different perspective. It encourages adventure and creativity while capturing breathtaking moments.
It helps sharpen my focus – and manual dexterity – while at the same time capturing the beauty of God’s creation – the Earth – from above.
This is non-negotiable.
Eating Right (When I Can)
I am not going to lie to you, I enjoy pizza, hamburgers, french fries, fried chicken, etc. But I work hard at limiting how much of those food items I take in.
A balanced diet is the foundation of good health. Nourish your body with wholesome foods that provide essential nutrients, energy, and vitality.
I do several strict five-day water fasts each year and intermittent fasts every Friday

Meditating and Listening to Relaxing Music
Meditation is a powerful practice that reduces stress, enhances focus, and promotes emotional balance. I combine it with the soothing effects of relaxing music for a tranquil mind. (I love smooth jazz)
I have meditation music – including gong sounds and sounds of nature – on my portable M3 player and I oftentimes will lay in complete darkness on my “grounded” bed and listen.
The “beta” frequencies make for better sleep.
This is non-negotiable.
Taking Long Drives in the Countryside
Escape the noise, hustle, and bustle of daily life by taking long drives in the countryside is a must. It’s a therapeutic way to unwind, reconnect with nature, and find solace in simplicity.
I will drive to a secluded spot, take off my shoes, and plant my bare feet on the Earth for 30-60 minutes/

Maintaining a Calm, Cool, and Controlled Demeanor
I believe that emotional intelligence (EQ) is a valuable skill that enables you to navigate life’s challenges with grace. I work hard at cultivating and maintaining a calm, cool, and controlled demeanor to handle situations effectively and maintain inner peace.
This is in alignment with the Fruit of the Spirit The Apostle Paul wrote about in Galatians 5:22-23.
This is not easy to do because the world challenges you and essentially says to you, “How dare you be calm, collected, and controlled? Be like the rest of us.”
I challenge the world.
This is non-negotiable.
Thank God for Each Day I See and Each Breath I Take
Above all, I thank my God and Creator for giving me life. I have learned not to take it for granted.
I often think, what has any of us done to deserve to breathe air, taste, drink, see, speak, hear, and smell? Nothing at all.
I know that the Devil has constructed a world that insulates us from the Earth our Mother and God our Father (Creator). With God’s help, I have reconnected to the Earth and draw closer to Him each day.
I thank God for sending His Son to us all. He is the only one who knows the way to Him. I would be a fool not to follow Christ (Messiah) Jesus.
This is non-negotiable
Gratitude is the key to happiness. Every day, take a moment to thank the universe for the gift of life. Acknowledging the blessings around you can change your perspective and bring lasting contentment.
